MORE VERSIONS, ONE VISION Explore the tribal, folk and traditional Indian Art. Our mission: To create a global platform for artists who create tribal, folk and traditional art forms from India to present and exhibit their works and their perspectives in this virtual art exhibition. This show aims to show it as a "living tradition" that is in dialogue with contemporary practices. Curator Note by Jesno Jackson: Indian tribes are capable of producing from within their folds artistic gems that have been protected over generations but finally find an outward recognition in some form or the other. As art is dependent upon its source of inspiration, so the designs vary from region to region according to traditions, folklore, and practices unique to the area. Avenues like these art forms, with an informed approach in curation, fostering relationships between indigenous artists and the public, could help redefine the term for our times and perhaps, someday, even render :tribal" altogether superfluous.Tribal art generally reflects the creative energy found in rural areas that acts as an undercurrent to the craftsmanship of the tribal people. Indian Folk arts are a delightful mix of artistry. The folk art have come a long way in getting wide spread acclaim and attention. Considering that these Indian folk art form has been passed through generations and managed to save an entire forest speaks volumes about how art can impact not only creativity and expression but also stand tall for social and environmental causes. The Scroll paintings are an integral part of the visual arts and most of these are as much about tradition and culture as about skill, color and craft. Each area or village developed its own scroll paintings and hence these paintings carry with them rich history, as well as, regional traditions and cultures. Founders Note by Rengi Cheran : India had always been known as the land that portrayed cultural and traditional vibrancy through its conventional arts and crafts. The 35 states and union territories sprawled across the country have their own distinct cultural and traditional identities, and are displayed through various forms of art prevalent there. Every region in India has its own style and pattern of art, which is known as folk art. Other than folk art, there is yet another form of traditional art practiced by several tribes or rural population, which is classified as tribal art. The folk and tribal arts of India are very ethnic and simple, and yet colorful and vibrant enough to speak volumes about the country's rich heritage. Folk art in India apparently has a great potential in the international market because of its traditional aesthetic sensibility and authenticity. The rural folk paintings of India bear distinctive colorful designs, which are treated with religious and mystical motifs. Our aim is to develop ways and means by which basic cultural and aesthetic values and perceptions remain active and dynamic among the people. It also undertakes the promotion of various manifestations of contemporary art.
